The Gunners plan to strengthen their team before the 2023-24 season starts

According to reports, Arsenal are thinking about signing Brentford custodian David Raya. The Athletic claims that Arsenal wants to bring Raya in to challenge the regular starter in goal, Aaron Ramsdale.

Raya has not yet received a bid from Arsenal, but Brentford are aware of their interest, and the 27-year-old is keen to move to the Emirates Stadium.

The source also states that Matt Turner, who is now Arsenal's backup custodian, is wanted by Nottingham Forest.

Although there is still an imbalance in pricing for a Turner purchase, talks are still ongoing.

Raya, whose deal with Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer fell through, has been in preliminary talks with Bayern Munich about a possible transfer.

David Raya's valuation

Raya is valued at £40 million by Brentford, and the custodian has already expressed a desire to leave the team in quest of trophies. Raya would fit right in at the North London club with Mikel Arteta's method of play thanks to his distributing abilities.

Turner signed for the Gunners this past season from the New England Revolution, although he didn't play in the Premier League during that time, despite seven appearances in cup competitions.

The 29-year-old is yet to make an appearance for the Gunners during preseason play after representing the USA at the Gold Cup.

Raya, who has two Spain caps, participated in each of Brentford's league games in the previous campaign. From Blackburn Rovers, he joined Brentford in 2019.

In order to send an indication that no one's spot in the team is secure, it would be merciless of Arsenal to bring in somebody to compete with Ramsdale.

However, Raya would prefer a move to Bayern, as he might find it difficult to secure the top slot at the Emirates Stadium.
