Bayern Munich ready to 'break their transfer record' to land Harry Kane

Bayern remain consistent in their quest to sign Harry Kane

Executives from Bayern Munich have flown to London to speak with Daniel Levy, the chairman of Tottenham, in preparation for breaking their transfer record to acquire Harry Kane.

The €80 million that Bayern spent Atletico Madrid for Lucas Hernandez in 2019 marks the club's record move. Even though Kane just has a year left on his deal, they are willing to pay more for him.

On Monday morning, Jan-Christian Dreesen, the chief executive, and Marco Neppe, the technical director, landed at the Munich airport for their flight to England.

The clubs were supposed to meet this past week, but the meeting was postponed while discussions concerning the future of England captain Harry Kane have continued between the two parties.

Although there is still a valuation difference between Bayern and Spurs, Kane is still willing to have a formal conversation with the German club if Spurs are confident they are getting a good offer.

The record-setting scorer for Spurs is reportedly interested in joining the German champions.

Kane won't renew his deal with Tottenham during the summer and prefers to sign with Bayern than any other interested teams.

In the event that Tottenham decides to sell, Kane's current team, Paris St-Germain, thinks they are in the running. But they won't be sucked into a bidding battle.

Kane isn't for sale, has been Tottenham's stance all summer. He has one year left on his deal with Spurs, but he has never demonstrated a desire to leave.

The danger for Spurs is sticking with him past the deadline and perhaps losing a world-class goal scorer to a Premier League rival next summer when he becomes a free agent. Spurs are engaging with interested foreign clubs because of this.

So what would happen if Tottenham and Bayern couldn't agree on a transfer fee? Kane will continue playing football if he stays at Tottenham.

What circumstances would persuade him to extend his contract at the end of the season if that situation arises? The short answer is that Spurs would have to develop into a team capable of taking home championships.

Levy is taking a risk by doing that. Otherwise, he can anticipate the England captain having his pick of domestic and foreign clubs.
