The Bundesliga champions join Liverpool in a race to sign the French midfielder

According to reports, Bayern Munich have joined the competition to recruit Khephren Thuram, who has his sights set on Liverpool.

Throughout the summer transfer season, Jurgen Klopp's team has been connected with a bid for the Nice midfielder, with a reported asking price of £52 million.

Dominik Szoboszlai followed Alexis MacAllister as an additional summer signing for the Reds on Sunday, and Klopp is eager to bolster the roster as he tries to rebuild the team.

The Reds are rumoured to be interested in adding one more midfielder to their squad this summer, but it appears that they will have tough competition if they hope to recruit the son of illustrious French defender Lilian.

According to L'Equipe, Bayern Munich have contacted the Nice star about a potential summer transfer. The French Under-21 international has been contacted, but Nice has not yet been reached, it is said.

Liverpool are also said to have visited with Khephren Thuram's family, although they, too, are not believed to have made a proposal to the Ligue 1 team.

Following Ukraine's victory over France on Sunday in the U21 European Championships, any plan for Thuram might start to gain momentum.

The acquisitions of Mac Allister and Szoboszlai have resulted in Liverpool spending a total of £95 million so far this summer.

The Reds, who were in desperate need of a midfield reconstruction after placing fifth in the Premier League last season, have had a fruitful summer thus far. The Reds have been mentioned with a number of midfielders, and Thuram is merely one of them.

An offer for the Lavia, valued at £50 million, was reportedly being prepared by Liverpool in an effort to get out in front of their rivals.

passion for Thuram is coming off a spectacular season at Nice, where he made 48 outings spanning all competitions.

Thuram encouraged transfer rumours after Szoboszlai was acquired by liking a post explaining how the Hungarian got his Steven Gerrard-inspired tattoo.
