Chelsea set deadline for Inter Milan to send satisfactory offer for Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku has showed no intention of playing for Chelsea again

Inter Milan have been given until Monday, July 17, to finalise the transfer of Romelu Lukaku, or else he must report to Chelsea's training sessions.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia, Inter is 'preparing a new offer' for Lukaku that may cost as high as €35 million (£29.7 million).

According to him, a return to the San Siro has taken precedence over greater-value proposals from Saudi Arabia for the 30-year-old attacker.

The striker was the club's highest signing when he returned to Stamford Bridge in 2021, but after a contentious Sky Italia interview and an unsatisfying eight league goals, the Blues decided to send him again to Inter Milan this past season.

In his second stint with the Italian team, who ended third, claimed the Coppa Italia, and advanced to the Champions League final, Lukaku recorded 14 goals and contributed seven assists.

Although Inter has already had their initial bid rejected, they are still eager to sign the Belgian for a third time.

Before leaving for their preseason tour of the United States, Chelsea are reportedly aiming for a settlement, and there may be encouraging developments soon.

It's also been reported that Lukaku won't show up for a training that was supposed to take place on Wednesday morning to talk about his future with Chelsea.

According to Di Marzio, the Belgian international has already come to a mutual agreement' that he won't be playing for Chelsea again in the upcoming season.
