Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag responds on potential loan deal to sign Kylian Mbappe

The French star looks set to leave PSG this summer
Erik ten Hag’s side is in dire need of a striker as Manchester United look to play a more assertive and attacking style of football under the Dutch manager.
After completing the signings of midfielder Mason Mount and goalkeeper Andre Onana, Manchester United are now looking to bring a striker in their mix. They have been lacking a goal scorer since the unceremonious exit of Cristiano Ronaldo, and with Wout Weghorst’s loan spell coming to an end, the goalscoring for Man United has largely fallen on the shoulders of Marcus Rashford.
Rashford seems to have risen to the occasion, scoring a career best 30 goals, however Erik ten Hag realizes that if The Red Devils are to have an impactful campaign, they need a quality no.9 to link up with Rashford in front of goal.
At the start of the 2022-2023 season, Anthony Martial was looked at as an option, however after impressing in the preseasons, he scored 9 goals in 29 games and missed out on many outings due to his hamstring injury. Martial is reportedly not Ten Hag’s first choice for the no.9 position, mainly due to his proneness to injury.
At the moment, United’s attention is towards Atalanta striker Ramus Hojlund, with interest in Spurs’ striker Harry Kane also being in contention.
Speaking about his side’s pursuit of a striker, Ten Hag said:
“We make progress, yeah. But you know how it works, when we have him- we will tell you directly”.
Speaking further, he said
"In an ideal situation, he [the striker] was already here but you do not always get ideal situations as a manager, and you have to deal with the situation."
Kylian Mbappe’s transfer saga has also attracted attention from Old Trafford and a bunch of other teams, including Barcelona, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Tottenham, and of course, Real Madrid.
Speaking of acquiring Mbappe, even on a loan arrangement, Ten Hag simply said.-
“We never speak about players who are in contract with other clubs.”
