Everton agree deal in principle to sign Sporting ace Youssef Chermiti

Youssef Chermiti has made 22 appearances and registered three goals and two assists for Sporting

According to reports, Everton have reached an agreement in principle for Sporting Lisbon striker Youssef Chermiti.

Wolves and Bournemouth were reportedly interested in signing the 19-year-old, but Everton appears to have outperformed them in the Premier League.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Everton and Sporting have come to an agreement in principle to buy Chermiti, provided the transfer is exclusive.

There is a contract established among the two teams that have been mutually agreed upon recently for him to join.

“It’s a tough market,” Dyche said. “There’s only so much that we can do so we’re working very hard — I can assure everyone of that — to construct deals that can work.”

As the Portuguese team ended fourth in the Primeira Liga, Chermiti had just concluded the inaugural campaign with the first squad under Ruben Amorim.

In 16 appearances, the attacker managed three goals and two assists. He has an impressive track record for the Portuguese U18 and U19 teams, scoring nine goals in a total of 16 games.

Following their 1-0 preseason success over Stoke City, Dyche had spoken out over the weekend on their transfer activity thus far.

He noted that the market is a "tough" place to compete in at the moment but gave supporters encouragement by saying that they are actively looking to reinforce.

When asked if he was optimistic about conducting business soon, the Everton manager continued:

“We’ll see. There’s no exact moment until it’s over the line. There’s been situations we’ve been in where we thought we were going to get it over the line and we don’t, and that’s the way it goes.

“Some players left us naturally at the end of contracts, some we were overloaded in certain positions. We’re reshuffling the squad the best we can and working hard in the market.”
