Inter Milan target Bayern's Yann Sommer as Onana's replacement
The Swiss goalkeeper joined the Bundesliga champions in 2023
Inter Milan are looking to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer after Andre Onana's possible move to Manchester United. The Italian side have set their sight on Bayern Munich's Yann Sommer.
The Nerazzurri have already planned to sell the player this summer and hope to make good money from the deal. Chelsea were looking to sign Onana but they dropped their plans.
Manchester United are in talks with the Italian clubs and have made a €50 million bid for Onana. Inter could plan to sell the player and invest in a new striker.
Now, the Serie A side is targeting Yann Sommer of Bayern Munich. After a decent career with fellow Bundesliga rivals, Borussia Monchengladbach, the 34-year-old goalkeeper joined Bayern in 2023. Manuel Neuer suffered an injury and the German champions replaced him with one of the best goalkeepers in the league.
After 19 league appearances for Bayern, Sommer could be heading to Italy. He won the Bundesliga title in his first season at the club. According to reports, Inter could get around €6 million deal.
Along with Sommer, Inter Milan also have plans to buy another goalkeeper. With Samir Handanovic likely to leave the club, the Nerazzurri will also need a second choice.
Anatoliy Trubin of Shakhtar Donetsk is also on the transfer list of the Italian side. The 21-year-old could have a bright future with Inter. He will cost them around €10 million.
This is positive news for Manchester United and their fans. Onana could be playing for Erik ten Hag's men in the 2023-24 season.
Yann Sommer has close to 300 appearances in the Bundesliga. He has also made 83 appearances for Switzerland and represented his nation in three World Cups.
Inter are eyeing experience and young talent. They could be finalising these deals once Onana's departure in confirmed.
