Italy announce squad for FIFA Women's World Cup 2023

The Blues look to make it to the final four for the first time
Italy women's squad will be participating in their fourth FIFA Women's World Cup and will be hoping to win their maiden World Cup. Head coach Milena Bertolini has named her 23-player squad for the Women's World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand.
Italy are in Group G along with Sweden, South Africa, and Argentina. The Blues qualified as the Group G winners in the qualification round.
Sara Gama, the captain of the 2019 Italy squad was already left out of the preliminary squad. According to the coach, the 34-year-old has been left out for "technical-tactical and physical" factors.
Barcelona's 16-year-old midfielder Giulia Dragoni makes it to the final squad. She made her debut on Saturday.
Italy's captain has not been revealed yet.
Milena Bertolini's side begins their campaign on 24 July against Argentina. They face Sweden on 29 June and then South Africa in the final group game on 2 August.
The Blues have reached two quarterfinals in their four appearances. In the 2019 edition, Italy lost to the Netherlands in the last eight. This time they will be looking to reach the final four.
The Italians rank 16th in the World rankings. Sweden are third and heads as the favourites to win the group.
