AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho suggests Mason Greenwood 'start playing football' and eyes a loan move

The 21-year-old forward is looking for a fresh start
Mason Greenwood's former Manager Jose Mourinho has encouraged the forward to join his side AS Roma next season after the player's future remains uncertain at Manchester United following indulgence in domestic violence.
Mourinho approached the troublesome Manchester United player about going on loan to the Serie A team. The investigation into Greenwood's behaviour following his detention in January 2022 to "determine the next steps" is still ongoing.
Charges against Greenwood, 21, including rape attempts using coercive or controlling tactics and assault, were later dropped.
Nevertheless, the police stated in February that Greenwood "no longer faces criminal proceedings" since the Crown Investigation Service had dismissed all allegations.
As per the report, it is told " "Jose rang Mason’s dad and also spoke with Mason. He told him the best way out of his current situation is to start playing football — and that eventually all the hassle will fade away."
"Mason was pleased that he got in touch and it has lifted his spirits. "He wants to get back playing and is just waiting for United to tell him what the future holds."
In March 2019, Greenwood earned his United first-team bow under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as a late substitution during the club's Champions League round of 16 comeback triumph against Paris Saint-Germain. A few days later, he appeared off the bench in a Premier League match against Arsenal.
The youngster earned his lone England cap during a Nations League match against Iceland in September 2020. He has since scored 35 goals and provided 12 assists in 129 games for the Red Devils. Greenwood, however, now thinks that a new beginning at United is improbable.
Juventus, Inter Milan, and AC Milan are other Italian teams that have been linked with a move for the winger to revive his football career again.
But after giving Greenwood a chance as manager of the Red Devils, Mourinho maintains a close relationship with him.
Greenwood was chosen by Mourinho to go with the team on their preseason tour of the US in 2018 at the age of 16.
Former United ace Jose Mourinho recognised Greenwood as an upcoming first-team standout at the age of 15, according to Nicky Butt.
