The Red's club captain could be the latest player to join the Saudi Pro League

As the midfielder considers his future, Al Ettifaq are waiting for Jordan Henderson to provide them the go-ahead to submit a formal bid to Liverpool.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool have requested a £10 million payment from the team for their captain.

The Saudi Pro League team, now under the direction of Steven Gerrard, is so eager to sign the England international that they have offered a wage more than triple that of £200,000 per week. The idea of a two-year deal with a third-year option was previously floated.

The transfer money required to secure Henderson, whose contract has two years remaining, will be offered by Al Ettifaq.

There has been no formal or informal communication between the two teams, indicating that Liverpool's captain has not yet made a decision.

It is believed Henderson would first ask Jurgen Klopp for clarification on his expected contribution level for the forthcoming campaign. Liverpool are still undergoing a midfield reconstruction.

Romeo Lavia continues to be of great interest, and they have already recruited Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. Saudi Arabia has also sought Thiago Alcantara since the Merseysiders need to change midfielders.

Henderson is evaluating the importance of his future on-field position at Liverpool as well as the potential negative effects of switching to Al Ettifaq before the summer's European Championships.

Henderson has consistently fought for human rights and remains one of the many outspoken champions of the LGBTQI+ community, so there are additional ethical considerations to take into account.

Henderson signed with Liverpool 12 years ago and became their longest-serving player, and in 2022–23, he made 43 outings for the team.
