Ligue 1 champions are keen to sign the French youngster
Reports suggest that Lyon are valuing the 20-year-old forward Bradley Barcola at €50m after PSG came up with an initial offer of €30m.
Barcola started playing for the Lyon senior team during the start of the 2021-2022 season after coming through the ranks of their youth program. He had his breakout season in the 2022-2023 campaign, especially in the second half of the season as he netted 5 goals and bagged 9 assists.
The forward coming in PSG’s radar is not a coincidence. With the exit of Lionel Messi, and the rumoured exit of Kylian Mbappe, The Parisians are looking to stack up attacking options before the coming season.
And with the arrival of Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona, they are looking to diversify their options by investing in a young and dynamic forward like Barcola. However, Barcola is being looked at as a future investment who will not necessarily give immediate returns, due to his relative inexperience, he may not be a regular starter if he makes the move to the Parc de Princes.
PSG are not the only team showing interest in the teenager. Champions League and Premier League champions Manchester City are also said to be interested in bringing the forward to The Etihad. Pep Guardiola’s side might be looking for Barcola to replace the outgoing Riyad Mahrez, who left for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli.
However, it is being reported that the forward himself is not interested in a big move away and wants to continue with Lyon for at least another season. Speaking to about his move, he was quoted as saying. –
"I feel good at OL(Olympique Lyonnais). I hope I’ll continue to receive the coach’s confidence. I don’t see why I would leave. I need to have a good full season, where I’m a starter from the off.” (Via One Football).
Speaking of the whole situation, Lyon’s boss Laurent Blanc echoed the youngster's sentiment, saying that he needs at least one more season at the club before moving elsewhere.
