Manchester City show interest in Lyon’s Abdoulaye Ndiaye

After a historic treble-winning season, Pep Guardiola’s side look towards the future
Manchester City have been eyeing many players in the ongoing transfer window, one of them includes Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig. However, they’re heavily interested in 21-year-old Senegalese defender Abdoulaye Ndiaye.
Ndiaye joined Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais in 2020 as an 18-year-old and was a part of their youth program, making 17 appearances for Lyon B.
Ndiaye has been out on loan to Ligue 2 side Bastia for the last season, where he has been impressive, making 28 league appearances.
Numbers of players departing Manchester City this summer
Man City’s interest in the young defender comes at a time when some players from their first team, including Kyle Walker, Kalvin Phillips, and Joao Cancelo might be leaving. Although the Cityzens at the moment have enough quality players to last them for the foreseeable future, Pep Guardiola is ensuring that the trophies at The Etihad at the moment are a regular affair.
Abdoulaye Ndiaye has attracted a lot of attention from a variety of clubs who are interested in the defender who has shown solid promise, and acquiring him should not be difficult given Lyon’s financial situations and rapid ownership changes in the past few months.
Man City’s interest in the defender is not coming out of the blue, they have shown interest in a lot of defenders in this transfer window. For example, they are reported to be in continuous talks with RB Leipzig for Croatian national and defender Josko Gvardiol. They are also heavily interested in Bayern München defender and Frenchman Benjamin Pavard.
It seems that with rumors around players like Kyle Walker, and Kalvin Phillips leaving, Pep Guardiola’s side are looking towards other talents across Europe as an insurance policy.
With Abdoulaye Ndiaye being 21 years old, he looks like an investment for the future.
