Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi says PSG star Kylian Mbappe is more prominent in India than France

The Indian PM is on a two-day trip to France
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is spending a two-day trip to France at President Emmanuel Macron's request, remarked that Kylian Mbappe, a French football player, is likely more well-known in India compared to France. Mbappe is a "superhit" amid Indian youth, he continued, adding.
In 2017, Kylian Mbappe moved to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in a 180 million euro deal, and he has since become one of the most well-known football players besides Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the world.
Kylian Mbappe contributed to PSG winning a record 11th French championship and also scored a hat-trick in France's 2022 World Cup final loss to Argentina.
"French football player Kylian Mbappe is a super hit among the youth in India. Mbappe is probably known to more people in India than in France," PM Modi was quoted when claiming by news agency ANI.
Modi also discussed India's rapid development in his address and claimed that as the globe is transitioning to a new order, India's power and role are also rapidly changing.
Additionally, he brought up India's G20 leadership in this regard and underlined how the globe was impressed by the country's hosting of numerous events.
In addition to announcing the creation of a new Indian consulate in Marseille, France, Modi also said that Indian students pursuing master's degrees in that nation's post-study labour market will henceforth be eligible for visas valid for five years.
India is the mother of democracy and an example of the variety, he claimed, highlighting the country's liberal and multicultural heritage.
A 269-member Indian tri-service delegation will take part in the traditional Bastille Day Parade on July 14 (Friday), where PM Modi will serve as honoured as a guest of honour.
He noted that the French government had given him a photocopy of his original identification document as a gift in honour of this significant personal achievement, which he still treasures as a priceless keepsake.
