The tournament kicks off on 20 June 2023

Francisco Neto has announced the members of his Portugal team for the inaugural FIFA Women's World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023.

Diana Gomes and Carole Costa, who scored the decisive goals that defeated Cameroon 2-1 in the Play-off Competition final in Hamilton back in February, will support the debutantes on their first Women's World Cup journey.

Along with Carolina Mendes and Diana, a fellow seasoned attacker, renowned player Jessica Silva will also visit Australia. The squad's youngest member, rising star Kika Nazareth, who is only 20 years and 213 days old, is selected.

With just seconds remaining in their 13th qualification game, Portugal secured their first-ever spot at a Women's World Cup. No team travelled to Australia and New Zealand having played as many games.

After 10 games and finishing second in the group phase second Germany, accompanied by wins over Belgium and Iceland in the European playoffs, Carole Costa's penalty in the fourth minute of stoppage time of the intercontinental playoff with Cameroon guaranteed qualifying.

Suzane Pires, Andreia Faria, and Alicia Correia can't play despite their contributions to Portugal's historic qualification campaign.
