PSG were interested in signing England international

After reaching a preliminary agreement with the club, Marcus Rashford is prepared to sign a new five-year contract with Manchester United.

Marcus Rashford, 25, was approaching the end of his current contract but will shortly sign new terms that are likely to involve a large pay increase over his £200,000 weekly salary.

The England international turned down lucrative offers from teams abroad and Premier League rivals with the intention of dedicating his career to United until 2028, according to the Athletic.

The club most frequently mentioned in connection with a move for Marcus Rashford was Paris Saint-Germain, particularly in light of the likely loss of superstar player Kylian Mbappe.

The 25-year-old made his professional debut in 2016 at the age of 18, but Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag insisted that he was certain the player would reach a compromise with his former team over an extension. The Dutchman is about to be proven correct.

The United Academy alumnus, who joined the team's youth programme when he was seven years old, recently denied rumours that he was asking for a new contract at a salary of £500,000 per week. "Just before this one becomes popular! Rashford posted on Instagram, "It's total bullshit.

Ten Hag and the Red Devils administration now have one less concern as they prepare for their preseason tour of the United States because the doubt around Rashford's future has been resolved. But first, United must travel to Edinburgh on Wednesday to play French powerhouse Lyon.

Rashford is back in the gym with his fellow international players, but he might not play in Canada. After the Red Devils defeated Leeds 2-0 in their first preseason friendly, Ten Hag told MUTV, "Those players, most of them will not show up in Edinburgh, as well. They need time to have a good training week."
