GFA Vedanta Women's League kickstarts today
The GFA Vedanta Women's League games will be broadcasted on SportsCast India.
The much-anticipated Seventh Edition of the GFA Vedanta Women's League is set to dazzle football enthusiasts as it kicks off on Tuesday. With a spirit of inclusivity and empowerment, the league is all set to provide talented female footballers the recognition they rightfully deserve. The league opener will see Compassion FC go head-to-head with FC Tuem at the Navelim ground, while Sesa FA will clash with Vintage 73 at the Sirsaim ground.
GFA President Dr. Caitano Fernandes emphasized the importance of gender equality in sports, stating, "Football knows no gender, and it's high time that we provide the same opportunities and recognition to our talented female footballers. The Women's Football League will be a platform where they can shine and inspire generations to come. And for the first time ever, the games will be broadcast live on SportsCast India."
The GFA president also extended heartfelt gratitude to Vedanta for their unwavering commitment to women's football, recognizing their pivotal role in making this league a reality.
The competition will feature six enthusiastic teams: Compassion FC, FC Tuem, Cana Benaulim, Sesa FA, Sinquerim FC, and Vintage 73. These teams are geared up to give their best in the league, showcasing their talent, dedication, and passion for the sport.
Matches will be held at four venues across the region, including Duler Stadium, Mapusa, Rosary ground, Navelim, Sesa Academy ground, Sirsaim, and Guirim ground. The double-leg league spans over three months, promising thrilling encounters and excitement for football enthusiasts, and will culminate in November.
The primary goal of the GFA Vedanta Women's League is to empower women in football and create role models for aspiring young girls who dream of excelling in this sport. It's not just about competing on the field; it's about fostering a sense of community and belonging, where women feel encouraged and supported to pursue their passion for football.
