Odisha FC will kickstart their season on 19th of September in the AFC Cup.
Odisha FC’s head coach Sergio Lobera along with team captain Amrinder Singh and local lad Tankadhar Bag presented the club's new jersey to Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik.
Odisha FC had previously unveiled three kits for the upcoming season on 11th of September 2023. While the home kit embodies the principles of minimalism and simplicity, the away kit pays homage to Odisha’s rich roots and culture and the third kit draws inspiration from the Simlipal Tiger Reserve.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also showered gratitude by leaving a note for the team after receiving the jersey and wished them luck for the upcoming season. He tweeted, “Glad to receive a team jersey from Odisha FC head coach Sergio Lobera and players ahead of AFC Cup and Indian Super League. May the team put its best performance and bring glory for Odisha. Wish the team all the very best for upcoming season”
Odisha FC are slated to begin their new season with the AFC Cup match against Mohun Bagan Super Giant on 19th of September 2023 at Kalinga Stadium.
Along with the AFC Cup, the team is also preparing for the ISL 2023-24, which is going to begin from 21st of September. The side will play their first match against Chennaiyin FC at their home ground, Kalinga Stadium, in Bhubaneswar.
While they make their continental debut this year, they will surely be looking to better their performance in ISL. They ended sixth last season in the league stage. Under the guidance of new tactician Sergio Lobera and with some seasoned campaigners and young players in the squad, Odisha FC are nicely poised to be a threat for the opponents both in the ISL and the AFC Cup.
Odisha FC are placed in Group D of the AFC Cup, alongside Bashundhara Kings, Maziya S&RC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant.
