India ended their King's Cup campaign in the fourth position.
India went down to a disappointing 1-0 loss to Lebanon in the third-place clash at the 2023 King's Cup on Sunday, September 10. The Blue Tigers were undone by a 77th-minute acrobatic goal from Kassem El Zein, which proved to be the only difference between the two teams.
The game itself was not as exciting as the previous 2-2 (5-4) loss to Iraq but turned out to be a much more cagier affair. Twitter (X) was set abuzz with the loss, the controversy around the goal (where El Zein was accused of being in an offside position) and the inability to create solid chances being among the main talking points.
Twitter reacts to Lebanon loss
Indian football fans took to Twitter (X) to react to the loss, pointing out some of the issues with the current squad that need to be improved to do much better going forward. This includes the problems with finishing chances in the final third, how poor the overall quality of the refereeing was in the tournament and how the team missed the presence of a clinical goal-scorer like Sunil Chhetri on the day.
