Son Heung-min set to sign long-term contract with Tottenham

Son Heung-min has been named captain of Spurs this season
Son Heung-min, the club captain, is being courted by Tottenham Hotspur for a long-term contract, according to 90min.
The South Korean international is in his seventh season with Spurs and ranks sixth all-time in goals scored by the club. Son's contract isn't up for renewal until 2025, but 90min stated that Tottenham will not hesitate to give him a longer one.
Despite the possibility that negotiations could be concluded quickly and a compromise is anticipated to be achieved by Christmas.
Son, who turned 31 over the summer, has had a strong start to the 2023–24 campaign, particularly for his three goals in Tottenham's 5-2 victory over Burnley earlier in September.
Before the beginning of their Premier League season, Son Heung-min was appointed the club's new captain in lieu of Hugo Lloris by new head coach Ange Postecoglou.
According to 90min, Tottenham Hotspur wanted to observe how Postecoglou and Son got along before talking about a new deal, but because they have a strong rapport, negotiations can move forward swiftly.
On Tuesday night, Postecoglou spoke about his adoration for Son at a fan forum event.
"Everyone knows he's a fantastic footballer but he's just a brilliant human being. For any sort of manager, when you're looking for leaders in a group and they're all different types, firstly what kind of person are they is really important when setting up a team." Postecoglou said.
"Even from afar, even before I joined the club, obviously I've known Sonny for a long time because being from that part of the world myself and working in Asia and the exposure I had to his standing in the community there, you can tell he was respected. Whether it was teammates or opponents, everyone spoke really highly of him. I think he was the perfect embodiment.
"I think Sonny and [new vice-captains] James Maddison and Cuti Romero, they've embraced that leadership role. All the boys, irrespective of whether they've been here two months or ten years, they feel really comfortable in there. That's because of the people who are the leaders, not necessarily the players but the people."
