The Gunners made huge spendings in the summer of 2023

Arsenal’s 30-million-pound bid for Ousmane Diomande was rejected in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal seems to already have plans in place for the January transfer window, even though the summer transfer market has just been closed for a little more than a fortnight.

At the beginning of the new year, Mikel Arteta is rumoured to be rekindling his interest in Sporting defender Ousmane Diomande. According to numerous sources, the 18-year-old Ivorian's contract with the Portuguese powerhouses has a release clause worth approximately £69 million.

As per Record, Arsenal are rumoured to have submitted a £30m bid for his signature in the summer but it was swiftly rejected That rejection hasn't deterred Arteta from coming back in for Diomande, who is highly thought of by a number of European football's biggest clubs.

Juventus, Monaco, and Manchester United have all been mentioned as potential suitors for the talented centre-back. Surprisingly, Diomande only made 13 games in the Primeira Liga last season, but he clearly left a big impression during that time.

His recent senior-level Ivory Coast debut is likely to have drawn even more suitors to him. The Gunners enjoyed a phenomenal window during which they broke their previous record fee by signing Declan Rice for £105 million.

But Arteta is still eager to add players because he wants to try to reduce the gap between his Arsenal team and the defending champions Manchester City. William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Benjamin White are just a few of the talented defenders for the Gunners, but Diomande would be a player for the long term who could pick up tips from the few more seasoned internationals ahead of him.
