Fenerbahce hold talks with Arsenal over Jorginho's transfer

Jorginho joined Arsenal from Chelsea in last winter transfer window

Fenerbahce of Turkey are apparently mulling a bid for midfielder Jorginho, so Arsenal's dealings in the player's transfer market may not be finished yet.

According to Turkish journalist Arda Biben, the Turkish giants are searching for a midfield "number six," with Jorginho, Guido Rodriguez of Real Betis, and Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City being the top targets. Fenerbahce has given the task of negotiating player prices to intermediaries.

Jorginho's departure from The Emirates would put an end to a brief but memorable stay. The midfielder, who is of Brazilian descent, joined Arsenal during the winter transfer window as they looked to strengthen their lineup ahead of an ultimately fruitless title defence.

Despite making certain important contributions in the second half of the previous campaign, playing time has proven tougher for him to come by this year; he has only logged seventeen minutes of action in the Premier League.

When the Gunners play Manchester United at the Emirates on Sunday, Jorginho will probably be waiting for a chance from the bench.

On Sunday afternoon, September 3, at the Emirates, Arsenal defeated Manchester United in the Premier League with a comeback victory of 3-1. Mikel Arteta had a special day thanks to goals from Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, and Gabriel Jesus.

Jorginho is still a target for Fenerbahce this month, as reported by reporter Arda Birben (via TeamTalk). The Italian playmaker left Chelsea in January of this year to join Arsenal, but he has had trouble establishing himself as a regular for the first team.

The Turkish club has been keeping tabs on him all summer, but given the departure of Granit Xhaka, Mikel Arteta might be hesitant to release him.

The 31-year-old's deal with Arsenal expires in the summer of 2019, though the team has the option to extend it by another year. Jorginho might be persuaded to depart in pursuit of regular football, though.
