Joao Palhinha's Bayern deal collapses after two rounds of medical
Palhinha set to remain at Fulham after his move to Bayern collapsed on deadline day
Joao Palhinha will continue to ply his trade for Fulham after his move to Bayern Munich came to a standstill on deadline day. The move won't transpire as the transfer window in Germany closes at 5 p.m.
The 28-year-old flew to Germany to complete his move and undergo medical despite both clubs were in talks and the fee was worth £65million.
The defensive midfielder was on the verge of joining the German club and an agreement between Bayern and Fulham was completed but due to unfortunate events, the Portuguese player will be in the Premier League this season.
Just a season at Craven Cottage the midfielder solidified his position and the club and became an essential player which saw interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern emerging.
However, Bayern were the candidate to land the midfielder and it looked like the transfer would be completed but due to the close of the transfer window, the deal collapsed.
Despite the early time frame, there was no time to settle on a final price. The Premier League's transfer window closed at 11 p.m., six hours after the German window closed at 5 p.m. UK time.
Concerned about their ability to find a suitable replacement for their top player in the last six hours of the summer transfer window, Fulham made a strong effort to retain the player.
Both Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Scott McTominay were hesitant to take over Palhinha at Fulham.
Palhinha is extremely disappointed, while Fulham, who is able to maintain their best player, benefits greatly from it.
