Olympique Lyon are looking to replace Laurent Blanc after run of poor results

Olympique Lyon have now turned their attention towards signing Julen Lopetegui after Graham Potter 'politely' turned down the offer to replace Laurent Blanc.

Sky Sports has confirmed that the Spanish manager is among the candidates to assume the duty of the French giants if their streak of unfavourable runs continues under Blanc.

Lyon are currently languishing at the bottom of the table with just a point and following the loss of Paris Saint-Germain the players were confronted by their Ultras.

Graham Potter has connections, and according to SSN, he was even their first pick, but Chelsea decided that seven months after he left, it wasn't the proper time to make the move.

Due to this, Lyon is reportedly considering Lopetegui and current Lille manager Paulo Fonseca as additional contenders.

On August 9, Lopetegui departed Wolves amicably following a disagreement over transfer policy. The team was warmly praised for its efforts to avoid relegation difficulties in the 2022–23 season during the nine months the former head coach of Spain had been in charge. According to reports, Lopetegui is also coveted for the position of new Villarreal coach.

According to AS, Villarreal wants to hire a new manager as quickly as possible and wants to take benefit of the international layoff.

After only earning three points in their first four games, the team is currently ranked fifteenth in La Liga. It is unclear, though, if Lopetegui will be the one whose stock will likely continue to rise.
