Nigeria announce squad for September International break

Jose Peseiro also extended his contract as Nigeria's manager
After agreeing to accept a considerable pay cut, Jose Peseiro's employment as Nigeria's manager was extended. His first task was to choose his team for the AFCON qualifier against Sao Tome e Principe on September 10.
The NFF initially recruited Peseiro under Amaju Pinnick at a salary that was nearly twice as much as that of his immediate predecessor, Gernot Rohr, and the most lucrative of any previous Super Eagles coach.
Nevertheless, the NFF has struggled to cover those salaries for almost the entire coach's tenure due to a tight budget from the government and even tighter sponsorship income.
Nigeria had previously fulfilled one of Peseiro's stipulated conditions by qualifying for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, and they did so with one game remaining. The other goal is to help the team advance to the semifinals of the Ivory Coast competition.
For the encounter the following week, Peseiro has since summoned up three fresh players for the Super Eagles. Gift Orban and Victor Boniface, two up-and-coming forwards, will want to make their Nigerian debuts and bring their scorching European performances to the green and white.
Jordan Torunarigha, a former youth international for Germany who recently made the transfer to Nigeria, is also relishing his first call-up.
