The teams strengthen ahead of the new Premier League season

The Premier League is known for its big spending on football transfers, often making headlines for signing famous players. This is partly because some of the world's most famous clubs are in England.

Clubs are always searching for a few key signings to help them reach a higher level. Here, in England, with some of the richest owners, it is hardly a surprise when we look at total expenditure on transfers. More than £2.44B was spent by the Premier League clubs in the summer of 2023. Let's take a look at these signings.

Arsenal

Last season, Arsenal missed out on the title after a shambolic run of form in the last 10 games. Until then it seemed like they would become the Premier League champions but their slip in the form paved the way for Manchester City to win the third consecutive PL trophy.

Now, according to Mikel Arteta, their summer window was focused more on acquiring the players who can just bring the oomph factor to the squad.

Arrivals: Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, Kai Havertz, David Raya

Departures: Granit Xhaka, Matt Turner, Aaron Trusty, Pablo Mari, Marquinhos, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Kieran Tierney, Folarin Balogun, Folarin Balogun, Nuno Tavares, Rob Holding, Alex Runnarsson

Aston Villa

Aston Villa by far have been a formidable side to face, since Unai Emery has taken charge. The Villans have enjoyed high-intensity football and a dominating style has been the cause of the adrenaline rush. Although many did not feel any need for additions, Emery's winning mentality said differently. These new signings and removals from the management are a statement to all the other clubs that Villa will be a dark horse.

Arrivals: Pau Torres, Rico Richards, Youri Tielemans, Clement Lenglet, Nicolo Zaniolo, Moussa Diaby

Departures: Cameron Archer, Aaron Ramsey, Jaden Philogene, Marvellous Nakamba, Keinan Davis, Wesley, Jed Steer, Ashley Young, Morgan Sanson, Viljami Sinisalo

Bournemouth

Everyone remembers the official club statement from Bournemouth at the end of the 2022-23 season. The Cherries released a video calling out almost every single person who thought they would not survive in the top flight. Bashing the criticisms they did the unthinkable!

But the question arises- have they done enough in terms of buying new players to strengthen their squad this season? The answer is a decent yes! The players brought in have been well-sought and perfectly fitted.

Arrivals: Tyler Adams, Hamed Traore, Alex Scott, Milos Kerkez, Romain Favre, Justin Kluivert, Max Aarons, Andrei Radu, Luis Sinisterra

Departures: Ben Pearson, Jordan Zemura, Jack Stacey, Jefferson Lerma, Junior Stanislas, Christian Saydee, Siriki Dembele, Romain Faivre, James Hill, Will Dennis, Mark Travers, Jamal Lowe, Jaidon Anthony

Brentford

This was not a loud transfer window where Brentford was concerned. Considering their talismanic striker, Ivan Toney is facing suspension until January, they have found a new striking duo of Mbeumo and Wissa who are firing all guns blazing. So, not much of a change was required in the first place. But it will be interesting to see what changes Thomas Frank makes in terms of the Squad lineup.

Arrivals: Nathan Collins, Kevin Schade, Mark Flekken, Neal Maupay

Departures: Mads Bidstrup, Halil Dervisoglu, Sergi Canos, Mads Bech Sorenson, Pontus Jansson, Saman Ghoddos, Joel Valencia, Tariqe Fosu, David Raya, Fin Stevens, Ryan Trevitt, Paris Maghoma, Matthew Cox

Brighton

For the past couple of years, Brighton has been entertaining the whole of the Premier League. From their perfect talent acquisition to amazing on-field football gameplay. The Seagulls have been soaring quite high than many expected them to. Even Roberto De Zerbi has been a superb successor to Graham Potter.

Keeping in mind all these scenarios, Brighton might have faired well in the transfer window yet again. Releasing the likes of Mac Allister and Caicedo, and still being able to win games by dominating the play is a statement in itself.

Arrivals: Joao Pedro, Carlos Baleba, Bart Verbruggen, Igor, Adrian Mazilu, Louis Flower, James Milner, Mahmoud Dahoud, Nehemiah Oriola, Ansu Fati

Departures: Moises Caicedo, Alexis Mac Allister, Robert Sanchez, Michal Karbownik, Reda Khadra, Aaron Connolly, Taylor Richards, Haydon Roberts, Jeremy Sarmiento, Andrew Moran, Abdallah Sima, Kjell Scherpen, Marc Leonard, Carl Rushworth, Deniz Undav, Ed Turns, Jensen Weir, Yasin Ayari

Burnley

Vincent Kompany returns to the Premier League, but this time as a manager of a Burnley side that is just not favoured to survive in the high-paced English top flight. However, the signings have been well-balanced with the outgoings but many fans fear that at best they are making a top Championship side here.

Arrivals: James Trafford, Zeki Amdouni, Aaron Ramsey, Jordan Beyer, Sander Berge, Wilson Odobert, Dara O'Shea, Michael Obafemi, Luca Koleosho, Hannes Delcroix, Nathan Redmond, Laurence Vigouroux, Han-Noah Massengo, Jacob Bruun Larsen, Mike Tresor

Departures: Bobby Thomas, Ashley Barnes, Matthew Lowton, Will Norris, Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Luke McNally, Wout Weghorst, Dara Costelloe, Scott Twine

Chelsea

Chelsea, under new owner Tedd Boehly, spent heavily in the summer transfer market, accounting for half of the Premier League's total spending. They've also signed Moises Caicedo and Lavia. Despite having a large squad with star players, their recent poor performance has led to banter. Fans are hopeful that the new signings can turn things around for Pochettino's side, but only time will tell.

Arrivals: Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Cole Palmer, Axel Disasi, Nicolas Jackson, Robert Sanchez, Lesley Ugochukwu, Djordje Petrovic, Deivid Washington, Angelo Gabriel, Diego Moreira

Departures: Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Christian Pulisic, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ethan Ampadu, Louis Flower, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Cesar Azpilicueta, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Dujon Sterling, N'Golo Kante, Abdul-Rahman Baba, Charlie Webster, David Datro Fofana, Angelo Gabriel, Gabriel Slonina, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Hakim Ziyech, Lewis Hall, Andrey Santos, Romelu Lukaku, Mason Burstow, Diego Moreira, Bashir Humphreys

Crystal Palace

The Eagles are another one of the dark horses this season. Although Crystal Palace might not have done enough to strengthen their squad from last season, many experts believe that holding on to players like Olise, Eze, and Doucoure is a massive boost from their perspective.

Arrivals: Matheus Franca, Dean Henderson, Rob Holding, Jefferson Lerma

Departures: James McArthur, Luka Milivojevic, Laurie Shala, Wilfried Zaha, Vicente Guaita, Jack Butland, Luke Plange

Everton

Everton have not started well. Their form is a replica of their underwhelming business in the summer transfer window. The highlight of their window was signing an ageing Ashley Young, which has led the fans to believe that the team deserves to go down for their lack of investment and effort. The Toffees are being accused of having the worst window out of every other club in the Premier League this season.

Arrivals: Beto, Youssef Chermiti, Ashley Young, Arnaut Danjuma, Jack Harrison

Departures: Moise Kean, Alex Iwobi, Ellis Simms, Tom Cannon, Niels Nkounkou, Andros Townsend, Yerry Mina, Asmir Begovic, Tom Davies, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Mason Holgate, Neal Maupay

Fulham

Marco Silva did a great job last season with Fulham, moving up from a lower league and finishing 10th. They almost lost a key player, Palinha, at the last minute, but now they have Jimenez and Traore to replace Mitrovic, which makes fans optimistic about this season.

Arrivals: Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Timothy Castagne, Raul Jimenez, Steven Benda, Adama Traore, Fodo Ballo-Toure

Departures: Aleksandar Mitrovic, Ivan Cavaleiro, Neeskens Kebano, Shane Duffy, Paulo Gazzaniga, Joe Bryan, Steven Sessegnon, Jay Stansfield, Kevin Mbabu, Martial Godo, Terence Kongolo

Liverpool

Liverpool aimed to strengthen their midfield this season. They signed four promising players: Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch. Some fans have mixed feelings, but many believe these signings have improved the team compared to the players who left.

Arrivals: Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Wataru Endo

Departures: Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Layton Stewart, Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, Naby Keita, Calvin Ramsay, Rhys Williams, Fabio Carvalho, Sepp van den Berg, Nat Phillips, James Norris

Luton Town

Similar to Burnley, Luton Town is also likely to drop to the Championship this season. Many believe they should work on creating a team that can finish in the top half of the Championship next season.

Although surprises can happen, Luton Town's restricted budget is a significant challenge. Being in the top flight is already a great accomplishment for them, but their limited funds for transfers could lead to relegation this season.

Arrivals: Ryan Giles, Tahith Chong, Mads Andersen, Thomas Kaminski, Marvellous Nakamba, Jacob Brown, Teden Mengi, Chiedozie Ogbene, Tim Krul, Ross Barkley, Issa Kaboure, Albert Sambi Lokonga

Departures: Carlos Mendes Gomes, Sonny Bradley, Sonny Bradley, Harry Isted, Henri Lansbury, Luke Freeman, Fred Onyedinma, Elliot Thorpe, Jack Walton, Joe Taylor, Aribim Pepple, John McAtee, Admiral Muskwe, Dion Pereira, Allan Campbell, Louie Watson

Manchester City

Last year's treble winners, Manchester City, do not look like they have just sold important squad players like Gundogan, Mahrez and Laporte. This is why they are rest apart from others in the league right now as they Quickly replaced all those players in a single transfer market. One of the most coveted names to have signed for the Sky Blues include Gvardiol.

Arrivals: Josko Gvardiol, Jeremy Doku, Matheus Nunes, Mateo Kovacic, James McAtee

Departures: Cole Palmer, Riyad Mahrez, Aymeric Laporte, James Trafford, Yangel Herrera, Ilkay Gundogan, Benjamin Mendy, Nahuel Bustos, Issa Kaboure, Liam Delap, Josh Wilson-Esbrand, Maxime Perrone, Tommy Doyle, Joao Cancelo, Slobodan Tedic

Manchester United

Mason Mount Manchester United Premier League

Manchester United's transfer season didn't go as planned, but they've added better players. It's crucial for these new additions, like Hojlund in attack, Onana as the goalkeeper, and Amrabat on loan from Fiorentina, to perform well as a team. Fans are eager for a better season, especially with the Champions League ahead.

Arrivals: Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir, Jonny Evans, Jonny Evans, Sergio Reguilon, Sofyan Amrabat

Departures: Anthony Elanga, Dean Henderson, Fred, Matej Kovar, Alex Telles, Zidane Iqbal, Charlie Savage, Teden Mengi, Marc Jurado, David de Gea, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, Ethan Galbraith, Di'Shon Bernard, Di'Shon Bernard, Mason Greenwood, Alvaro Fernandez

Newcastle United

Sandro Tonali Newcastle United Premier League 2023-24 transfers
Sandro Tonali was signed from AC Milan

Newcastle United made a remarkable comeback to the Champions League after 20 years, all thanks to manager Eddie Howe's magic. However, to sustain their success in multiple competitions in the 2023-24 season, they needed more top-quality players. Lucky for them, their wealthy owners did not shy away from the demands. As a result of it, the Toons secured AC Milan's Sandro Tonali as a star signing for the summer.

Arrivals: Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes, Valentino Livramento, Yankuba Minteh, Lewis Hall

Departures: Allan Saint-Maximin, Chris Wood, Karl Darlow, Ciaran Clark, Matty Longstaff, Yankuba Minteh, Harrison Ashby, Jamal Lewis, Kell Watts, Garang Kuol, Ryan Fraser, Jeff Hendrick

Nottingham Forest

Forest's transfer window is feeling familiar. A deja vu, some might call it. They've signed six players on deadline day, making it ten new recruits this summer. While some find this approach chaotic, the quality of these signings suggests that Steve Cooper's team may have a real shot at proving critics wrong and achieving success in the upcoming season.

Arrivals: Ibrahim Sangare, Andrew Omobamidele, Anthony Elanga, Chris Wood, Gonzalo Montiel, Nicolas Dominguez, Odysseas Vlachodimos, Matt Turner, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ola Aina, Nuno Tavares, Andrey Santos, Divock Origi

Departures: Brennan Johnson, Sam Surridge, Braian Ojeda, Remo Freuler, Steve Cook, Cafu, Jack Colback, Jordan Smith, Adnan Kanuric, Andre Ayew, Jesse Lingard, Lyle Taylor, Jonathan Panzo, Richie Laryea, Josh Bowler, Gustavo Scarpa, Omar Richards, Lewis O'Brien, Ui-jo Hwang

Sheffield United

Sheffield United is facing a tough challenge in the Premier League this season. They spent a lot on a young striker, Cameron Archer, from Aston Villa. They also brought in Gustavo Hamer from Coventry and James McAtee from Man City, who was on loan last season. Tom Davies has experience in the Premier League with Everton. However, it's doubtful whether these signings can help Sheffield United avoid relegation.

Arrivals: Cameron Archer, Gustavo Hamer, Vini Souza, Auston Trusty, Benie Traore, Anis Slimane, Tom Davies, Yasser Larouci, James McAtee

Departures:  Iliman Ndiaye, Sander Berge, Jake Eastwood, Enda Stevens, Enda Stevens, Enda Stevens, Kyron Gordon, Luke Thomas

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur had a busy transfer window that just closed. Spurs made important moves, both in and out, with many transfers and loans happening on the final day. The team now looks quite different from last season. While they didn't accomplish everything they wanted, they did a lot of business in a short time. Son, Maddison, and the rest of the team seem to be working well together, possibly making up for Harry Kane's absence in scoring goals already.

Arrivals: Brennan Johnson, James Maddison, Pedro Porro, Micky van de Ven, Dejan Kulusevski, Guglielmo Vicario, Guglielmo Vicario, Ashley Phillips, Ashley Phillips

Departures: Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Lucas Moura, Joe Rodon, Djed Spence, Sergio Reguilon, Japhet Tanganga

West Ham

West Ham seemed weaker because their star player, Declan Rice, left. But in the last week, they did well with signing Kudus. Thanks to Ward Prowse and Paqueta wreaking havoc in midfield the loss of Rice has just not come up front yet. The recent results are a witness to that as well. However, they didn't strengthen their defence, which might affect their chances of finishing high this season.

Arrivals: Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse, Konstantinos Mavropanos

Departures: Declan Rice, Gianluca Scamacca, Nikola Vlasic, Arthur Masuaku, Andy Irving, Manuel Lanzini, Krisztian Hegyi, Nathan Trott, Flynn Downes, Andy Irving

Wolves

Wolves faced money problems before the season began, and it caused them trouble. Their coach, Julen Lopetegui, left right before the season because he wasn't happy with how things were going.

Even though Ruben Neves went to Saudi Arabia, it didn't give the club enough money. They also lost some experienced players like Conor Coady, Joao Moutinho, Adama Traore, and Raul Jimenez.

Arrivals: Matheus Cunha, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Boubacar Traore, Santiago Bueno, Enso Gonzalez, Tommy Doyle, Matt Doherty, Tom King, Tommy Doyle

Departures: Matheus Nunes, Ruben Neves, Nathan Collins, Conor Coady, Raul Jimenez, Ryan Giles, Hayao Kawabe, Jackson Smith, Matija Sarkic, Joao Moutinho
