PSG shortlist five Real Madrid players in response to club's pursuit of Kylian Mbappe

The French star could leave the Ligue 1 giants next summer

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the CEO of Paris Saint-Germain, may be accepting the possibility of losing Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid even though he will make every effort to keep him until next summer. He won't give up on the transaction, though.

As things stand, Mbappe will have no financial obligation to stay and sign a contract with Real Madrid, but similar to what occurred to Barcelona, Al-Khelaifi will try to retaliate through the market. In 2016, the Blaugrana openly sought Italian midfielder Marco Verratti but ultimately were unable to close a deal.

However, PSG came back strong the following summer, paying Neymar's €222 million release clause and sending Barcelona into a tailspin from which they are only now emerging.

According to OK Diario (via Sport), PSG have a wishlist of players they are willing to pursue at the Santiago Bernabeu in order to exact similar retribution on Los Blancos.

Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Junior figure at the highest level of the chart because they can blend into any attack and look at home.

They would also be happy to steal midfield powerhouses Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Fede Valverde. But as was mentioned, all five are bound by lengthy contracts with average €750 million release clauses.

Since each one of them have been much-inducted into the Real Madrid-greatness mentality, PSG must convince those players to depart Real Madrid as well if Mbappe decides to proceed another way.

PSG will have their work cut hard assuming there was a preexisting problem, like game time, to make them explore a move. Real Madrid might also benefit, depending on the amount of money being offered, if only Barcelona had better money management.
