According to L'Équipe, PSG forward Marco Asensio may be sidelined for a significant amount of time after suffering an injury during the international break.

During Spain's 7-1 hammering of Georgia last Friday, the Spanish international developed a problem with his foot and was forced to be taken off the field. Although La Roja coach Luis de la Fuente initially said the former Real Madrid star had little to worry about in the aftermath, that has now changed.

Although PSG doctors' initial assessments of the situation are more optimistic and the club, for now, measures the attacker's potential absence at a few weeks rather than months, sources in Spain close to the national team have suggested the 27-year-old, who has struggled with serious injuries throughout his career, could be out for at least a month.

The Spaniard was in strong form throughout the first few games of the season, scoring twice and contributing an assist, and the injury comes at a poor time for Asensio and PSG as the Champions League is due to begin next week.

Asensio was in full swing before departing for the international break, scoring in back-to-back matches while assuming the role of a false No. 9. But once he recovers, all that goodwill will come to a halt.

Given the depth of the offense under manager Luis Enrique, PSG can survive the setback. However, Asensio's many fans will hope that this is only a hiccup in the road and that he can soon return to the impactful player that he had started to become before his injury.
