Real Madrid plotting move for Julian Alvarez as Kylian Mbappe's alternative
Los Blancos' top scorer this season is Jude Bellingham with five goals
If Kylian Mbappe is not available to sign for Real Madrid next summer, Julian Alvarez of Manchester City has been mentioned as a possible fallback option.
Since his contract with Paris Saint-Germain is up in the summer of 2019, it is expected that Mbappe will eventually join Real after years of being strongly linked with the Spanish club.
Julian Alvarez represents one of the players that Real are considering in the event that they are unable to get Mbappe, says Fichajes.
After transferring from River Plate, Alvarez is now in his second season with City. The 23-year-old scored twice so far this campaign after scoring 17 goals in every match the previous year.
With more than 20 appearances for Argentina, Alvarez last year assisted his nation in winning the World Cup in Qatar.
Even though City's first-choice attacker is the prodigious Erling Haaland, Alvarez has shown that he has the potential to produce well while positioned behind the Norwegian.
Alvarez's commitment to City extends through the summer of 2028. Alvarez is highly regarded by city manager Pep Guardiola, who would probably be reticent to let him go.
Real will probably try to sign a well-known striker next summer, especially after releasing Karim Benzema to Al-Ittihad this season.
Instead of spending heavily on an attacking player this summer, Ancelotti and company signed Joselu, a former failure at Stoke and Newcastle, on loan from Espanyol.
Although the Italian is happy with his present alternatives, it is anticipated that the Spanish powerhouses will sign a star forward in 2019.
