Sheffield United’s top five biggest defeats in Premier League history

The Blades lost to the Magpies by eight goals for the first time in 90 years!
In an exciting Premier League round-up, Sheffield United surrendered themselves to the mercy of the visitors, Newcastle United. While many touted The Magpies to come out victorious, it was not to be this ruthlessly. It was an 8-0 drubbing of Sheffield United in front of the distraught home support at Bramall Lane.
This is the first time in 90 years that the Blades have lost a game by a difference of eight goals. The last time this happened was in 1933 when Middlesbrough demolished Sheffield United 10-3 in that game.
Now, let's look at the top five instances since the inception of the Premier League when Sheffield United have suffered their biggest defeats.
Newcastle 4 - 0 Sheffield Utd (1993-94)
In the 1993-94 Premier League season, under the guidance of Kevin Keegan, a rampant Newcastle United side outshone Sheffield United at home. The final scoreline read 4-0 in favor of the Magpies. The Blades were relegated that season after a terrible showing, and this loss was just an addition to their woes.

Liverpool 4 - 0 Sheffield Utd (2006-07)
Another 4-0 defeat, but this time it was away to Liverpool during the 2006-07 season. Sheffield United succumbed to a severe lack of support and the pressure at Anfield. Neil Warnock, who the head coach of Sheffield then, failed to keep his side up that season as well. They were relegated, having earned only 38 points in the 38-game season, averaging just one point per game
Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 Sheffield United (2020-21)
This was one of the poor showings from a relegation-bound side in the Premier League. Sheffield United suffered another huge loss when in-form Tottenham Hotspur capitalized on their visitors' weaknesses. The Blades finished last in the table with just 23 points out of a possible 114.
Leicester City 5-0 Sheffield United (2020-21)
Premier League fans might remember this one from a couple of years ago when Leicester City defeated Sheffield United 5-0 at the King Power Stadium. It was during that season that the Blades were relegated, and they have now made their way back up in the current season
Sheffield United 0-8 Newcastle United (2023-24)
Now, the one that has already caused an uproar this season: Newcastle 4, Sheffield United 0 at Bramall Lane. A horror showing from the newcomers at the back yet again showed that the Blades are unable to handle the pressure of the big stage. As mentioned above, this loss is their first in 90 years in which they've lost by a margin of 8 goals. The last one was against Middlesbrough in a 10-3 loss in 1933
