Top three players to play for Manchester United and Fiorentina

Another player becomes part of an exclusive list of individuals to play for both clubs.

Manchester United completed the signing of Sofyan Amrabat on the deadline day of the 2023 summer transfer window to bolster their midfield. The Moroccon international joins on a loan from Italian Serie A side Fiorentina with an option to buy. The 27-year-old impressed with his performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and has the MUFC fanbase drooling with excitement.

Sofyan Amrabat will add depth to Erik Ten Hag’s squad and hit the ground running with his multi-faceted qualities. The fans of the Red Devils already love him due to the intent Amrabat showed to join the club. Furthermore, he becomes part of an exclusive list of players who have played for both Fiorentina and Manchester United. 

As Sofyan Amrabat prepares to begin his life in England in the highly competitive and physical Premier League, here is a look at the top three players to feature for both Manchester United and Fiorentina:

Anderson

Anderson had a very successful stint with Manchester United. The Brazilian midfielder won four Premier League titles with the Red Devils. Furthermore, he won the UEFA Champions League during the 2007-08 season under Sir Alex Ferguson. In terms of domestic trophies, he won the League Cup and the Community Shield two times each.

His journey with MUFC began in 2007 but the going got tougher after Sir Alex’s retirement. In 2014, Anderson joined Fiorentina on loan but featured only eight times for the Italian club. The loan move ended after seven months and Anderson moved to Internacional in Brazil in February 2015 on a permanent transfer.

Giuseppe Rossi

Giuseppe Rossi remains one of the players in European football who never reached his true potential. The striker joined Manchester United as a teenager at 17 and made his senior debut in 2004. He would go on to make 14 appearances for MUFC in total. There were two loan spells to Newcastle United and Parma in between for Rossi before he moved to Villareal in 2010 on a permanent move. 

Fiorentina came calling in 2013 and signed Giuseppe Rossi from Villareal for €10.00m. The striker went on to spend four years at the club until 2017 when he moved to Genoa after the conclusion of his contract. He made 42 appearances for Fiorentina, scoring 19 goals and making eight assists.

Sofyan Amrabat

Sofyan Amrabat has a lot of quality and will back himself to succeed at Manchester United. The club moved swiftly to sign him in order to add depth and protection in the midfield department. Erik Ten Hag will relish working with the enforcer who loves to make strong tackles and recover ball possession in every corner of the pitch.

Sofyan Amrabat had made 107 appearances for Fiorentina before moving to Manchester United. He joined the Italian club in 2020 from Hellas Verona. He made his senior debut for Dutch side FC Utrecht after navigating through the academy ranks of the club.
