Tottenham don't have buy-back clause for Harry Kane despite Levi’s claim

Harry Kane joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023

Harry Kane does not have a clear-cut buy-back clause in his contract with Tottenham Hotspur because it is unlikely that he is going to think about doing so while Daniel Levy is still the club's owner.

Tuesday night, after President Levy informed supporters that the club had obtained a buy-back clause in the contract that saw the striker leave to Bayern Munich already this year, speculation of Kane making a stunning homecoming to Spurs one day increased.

Nevertheless, since Levy's public statement, numerous sources have told Mail Sport that although there is a facility that could allow Spurs to re-sign Kane, it is understood the facility is not a straightforward buy-back provision.

According to sources, the clause gives Tottenham Hotspur first dibs on Kane should he ever decide to make the move to the Premier League. It is also rumoured that the price is not fixed, so Spurs would still have to bargain with Bayern. The specifics of the clause have not been confirmed by Tottenham or Kane's agents.

But more importantly, it's questionable whether Kane would even think about going back to North London as long as Levy is still in charge.

Tottenham had lost control of Harry Kane's future going towards the summer trade window since the 30-year-old had begun the final year of his contract.

To prevent that from happening, Spurs preferably needed Kane to agree to a new contract, but the attacker displayed no evidence of intending to do so.

Levy allegedly became more reluctant to approve Kane's departure as it became obvious that his only choices remained to put him up for sale or lose him for free the next summer.

Levy is alleged to have objected to provisions of the agreement that Kane and the Bundesliga club thought had been reached when he eventually approved Kane's move to Bayern.
