Watch: Real Madrid's new Santiago Bernabeu's incredible retractable pitch
Los Blancos reveal the inner workings of renovated Bernabeu
After undergoing an almost £1 billion refurbishment, Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu has now officially reopened.
Big LaLiga boys Real Madrid started restoring their historic home in 2019 in an effort to keep pace with its contemporary opponents.
The spectacular, fully adjustable roof of the renovated Santiago Bernabeu is without a doubt its point of distinction.
The historic stadium also includes a brand-new terrace that offers supporters a breathtaking view of the pitch and great hospitality.
With the refurbishment, Real did not cut any corners and added a new pitch.
Before their match against Getafe on Saturday, the Spanish giants posted a video of the breathtaking refurbishment to social media.
The videos show the stadium's beautiful new terrace from both the inside and the outside. The upgrades at the Bernabeu were supposed to be finished LAST YEAR but took longer than expected.
Real's inaugural match of the year, a Madrid derby with Getafe, was played there for the first time.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti said: "It's a spectacular atmosphere, there's something new.
"I think the fans pushed a lot today, it's a much more enclosed atmosphere. You can feel that the fans pushed — it's going to be a very important help and it was today."
Due to a late goal from England player Jude Bellingham, Real came out on top 2-1. With five goals and one assist in four games, Bellingham has had an outstanding start to life in Madrid.
Regarding the 20-year-old, Ancelotti stated, "I'm not shocked by Bellingham's quality. The fact that he has scored so many goals in his first few matches amazes me.
