Xabi Alonso leading race to replace Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich

Thomas Tuchel was appointed last year as Bayern Munich manager

Bild claims that Bayern Munich are already prepared for Thomas Tuchel's future exit or separation and that Xabi Alonso is their top choice to succeed Tuchel.

All of Bayern's employees are huge Alonso supporters, but Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was instrumental in bringing the player to Munich in 2014. The Spaniard's current work, character, and profession are all valued by the bosses.

It has been predicted that Alonso will soon take over as Bayern Munich's manager, but it is also completely possible that he will return to one of his other old teams, like Real Madrid.

Bayer Leverkusen have improved dramatically under Alonso's leadership since he took over the club almost a year ago, and Die Werkself has advanced to the Europa League semifinals.

Leverkusen has made significant progress thus far this season, and they are the only other team (apart from Bayern) to have a perfect record. The game on Friday will demonstrate whether Leverkusen is capable of competing with the reigning champions.

It was a miniature representation of how Xabi Alonso has managed this Bayern team. The Spaniard has been given nearly unrestricted autonomy to overhaul the club since taking over in October 2022. And his authority has done wonders.

Leverkusen has improved dramatically over the past year, going from the bottom of the table to appearing like Bayern Munich's most likely Bundesliga rivals, with a promising Europa League run sandwiched in between.

All of this happened because the team was going through a lot of transition. Some upcoming stars have moved on, and they have been replaced by veteran European travellers.

Other players, however, have been repurposed and placed in more sensible roles. As a result, a manager is in charge of a dangerous team that will probably only get better.
