The player can play on both wings and also as an attacking midfielder.

Bengaluru FC winger Faisal Ali has joined Mohammedan Sporting on loan. The deal runs till the end of the season. The 23-year-old did not make a single appearance in the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL 2022-23), despite scoring on his debut in the Durand Cup group stage fixture against Air Force FT.

The club statement read, "The club can confirm that winger Faisal Ali has joined Mohammedan Sporting on a loan deal until the end of the current season."

About the player

Comfortable playing on either wing or in attacking midfield, Faisal began his career with Calcutta Football League (CFL) club Southern Samity's academy, coming through the age groups before joining Bhawanipore FC. His breakthrough to the big leagues came when Mohammedan SC picked him up on a free transfer.

In the 2021-22 season for Mohammedan, Faisal scored three goals and provided one assist in 16 matches. Faisal was also key in the Black Panthers’ run to the 2021 Durand Cup final. Faisal’s exciting dribbling, trickery and pace remained under-utilized at Bengaluru and by joining a club he knows inside out, the player should regain his confidence.

Mohammedan SC’s current season

After nine matches, Mohammedan need a lift. They are ninth in the 12-team league with 11 points from nine matches. Runaway leaders Sreenidi Deccan are sitting pretty with 19 points.

With a lot still to play for, Faisal Ali’s arrival will be a shot in the arm. Faslurahaman Methukayil and Marcus Joseph lead the goal-scoring charts for the Black Panthers with three goals each. With only 12 goals scored so far this season, having a player of Faisal’s quality back in the set-up should help them add to the disappointing tally and climb up the table.

Mohammedan SC next face off against Rajasthan United on January 6th. Faisal will be aiming to make an instant impact. The player will return to Bengaluru FC at the end of this season.
