The Islanders handed the Juggernauts their first home defeat of the season.

After what looked like an equal game of football in the first half, Mumbai City took control of it in the second 45 minutes to down Odisha FC 4-2. Two Indians featured in the scoresheet for Mumbai, while Diego Mauricio was a bright spot for the Juggernauts. In what was a good game for neutrals, the last 40 minutes saw the game change its course, during which Mumbai scored thrice to steal the deal.

In light of these, let us take a look at how the players of the two teams performed.

Odisha FC

Amrinder Singh - 5.5

Had a good start. Made a couple of good saves. Performance dipped toward the end during which Mumbai scored twice from his mistakes.

Narender Gahlot - 6.5

Had a good game in the first half. Did not have a particularly bad game but could not resist Mumbai’s attacking prowess.

Thoiba Singh - 6.0

Did quite well in an unusual position. Played well for the first 60 minutes until Mumbai City began to take control of the proceedings.

Carlos Delgado - 6.5

Made a goal-saving clearance in the first half. Could not prevent Mumbai from scoring once the Islanders took control of the game.

Sahil Panwar - 6.0

Sahil had a decent game, but the brilliance of Lallianzuala Chhangte undid all of his performance. Gave space to Chhangte in the case of Mumbai’s first goal. Should have done better in the case of Chhangte’s second goal as well.

Isaac Vanmalsawma - 5.5

Had 45 touches and created two chances. Tried his best to help the defence by making two tackles, two clearances, and one interception.

Raynier Fernandes - 5.0

Raynier was not much visible in the game. With 47 touches, he created two chances. These were not enough though. Also, he was not much effective in defence.

Jerry Mawihmingthanga - 5.5

Was shadowed by Mumbai City's defence. Mauricio’s second goal came from his pass though.

Victor Rodriguez - 7.5

One of the bright spots of Odisha. Made a good assist for Odisha’s first goal. Created two chances. Had 59 touches, the highest for his side.

Nandhakumar Sekar - 6.0

Similar to Jerry, Nandha did not look much threatening. Took three shots, with one on target, and whipped in two crosses.

Diego Mauricio - 8.5

Shined against his former employers. Scored two brilliant goals, the first of which was an equaliser. Showed tremendous work ethic throughout.

Substitutes

Pedro Martin - 4.5

Pedro was on the pitch for around 15 minutes. This was not enough for him to make a meaningful impact on the game.

Mumbai City

Phurba Lachenpa - 7.0

Had a good game. Made two saves. Did not have much to do in the case of Mauricio’s two goals.

Rahul Bheke - 7.5

Rahul Bheke looked sturdy in defence. With 69 touches, two tackles, one clearance, and one interception, he was able to keep Odisha’s Nandha silent for most of the game.

Rostyn Griffiths - 7.0

Looked strong in defence. Made a few good clearances and blocks. Could have done more in the case of Odisha FC’s first goal.

Mehtab Singh - 6.5

Partnered well with Rostyn. Kept Odisha’s attackers silent for the majority of the game, until Diego Mauricio stepped up to the turn his side's fortune.

Vignesh Dakshinamurthy - 7.5

Took one shot. Had the highest number of touches for Mumbai City. Kept his opposite number Jerry under check throughout the game.

Vinit Rai - 7.0

Vinit had a strong impact in the midfield. Had a high number of touches and filled the shoes of Apuia well.

Ahmed Jahouh - 7.5

Made himself available many a time to receive a pass and delivered some of them too! As usual, played his part well in the team’s win.

Lallianzuala Chhangte - 9.0

The best player on the pitch. Scored two goals and assisted one. Disturbed Odisha defenders throughout.

Greg Stewart - 5.5

Surprisingly, had a poor outing. Missed an clear chance in the first half. Was subbed off in the 63rd minute.

Bipin Singh - 8.0

Had a wonderful outing. Scored a goal and created numerous problems for the right side of Odisha’s defence.

Jorge Pereyra Diaz - 7.5

Played very well throughout. Created many problems for Odisha’s defence by combining well with the wingers. Assisted Chhangte’s first goal.

Substitutes

Alberto Noguera - 8.5

The second-best player for Mumbai today. Came on in place of Stewart and turned the game in its head. Scored one goal and assisted one for his teammate.

Rowlin Borges - 6.5

A rare appearance for Borges turned out to be a good outing. Looked a bit rusty, but was able to help his team see off the game.

Asif Khan - N/A

Vikram Pratap Singh - N/A
