Neymar had to be stretchered off the ground in the World Cup qualifier.

The ongoing international window has produced some iconic games all across the globe. But, with all the entertainment surrounding the ongoing international break, there has been an unfortunate incident as Neymar Jr sustained another heart-breaking injury.

The Brazilian was stretchered off in the first half in the game against Uruguay before Brazil were handed a 2-0 defeat. Although there is no information about the extent of the injury, Neymar was seen in tears while he was being stretched off.

Neymar likely to miss upcoming AFC Champions League tie

With Neymar sustaining a serious injury during the international break, it looks very unlikely that he will return to action in club football anytime soon. It looks inevitable that the star forward will not be a part of the Saudi Arabian side as they host Mumbai City early next week on 23 October in the AFC Champions League.

His injury has also put his participation in jeopardy in the reverse fixture which is scheduled to be played in Mumbai early next month. As mentioned earlier, there has been no official confirmation about Neymar’s injury, but it does look very serious.

It might be a huge heartbreak for football fans from all over the country who have already made plans to watch the Brazilian star take to the field in the City of Dreams.

What happened to Neymar?

Neymar’s injury does not look good and it might certainly be a long-term one. However, it is difficult to jump upon any conclusion before an official statement. The Brazilian was brought down following a slight collision with Uruguayan midfielder Nicolas De La Cruz before half-time.

The former Barcelona man called for immediate medical attention and was seen in a lot of pain. The replays suggest that Neymar might have torn his Anterior Cruciate Ligament, also famously known as the ACL.

In the replay, his tibia shifts forward and then pops back which in most cases results in an ACL injury. ACL injuries are nothing short of any athletes’ worst nightmare as it is a very long-term injury and players often lose their form following such an injury.
