This is Odisha FC’s second successive defeat in the AFC Cup.

Sergio Lobera’s Odisha FC suffered an excruciating defeat against Bangladesh outfit Bashundhara Kings in the AFC Cup 2023-24. The Juggernauts drew first blood after mainstay Diego Mauricio scored a great strike. Odisha’s opener however, was followed by three strikes by Bashundhara inside the space of 15 odd minutes across both halves. Odisha found another goal via Jerry Lalrinzuala, but despite their best attempts failed to get the equaliser.

Here are the ratings from the fixture.

Bashundhara Kings

Mehedi Hasan - 6.5

Hasan could’ve done better in trying to save Mauricio’s goal in the first half. The keeper also made a poor clearance that led to Odisha’s second goal.

Bishwanath Ghosh - 7

Ghosh took the pitch by a storm from the very first minute, and was a lively player. His forward runs were exceptional, and he also made sure that Goddard didn't give Bashundhara too much trouble.

Tariq Kazi - 6

Tariq had a difficult night at the back, as he was constantly tested by an attack-oriented Odisha FC. The defender was also not very much involved in any attacking plays.

Boburbek Yuldashov - 6.5

Boburbek was troubled by Odisha’s fantastic attacking plays, but remained firm on a number of occasions. The centre-back’s performance however, degraded towards the end of the game.

Saad Uddin - 6

Saad made some great attacking runs, and also helped to keep Jerry Mawihmingthanga at bay for the length of the game.

Asror Gafurov - 6.5

Asror put up a decent midfield performance, and was playing with a lot of freedom. He loitered around Odisha’s half, trying to create chances.

Jean Brossou - 7

Jean was pretty solid in the midfield, and had a total of 68 touches. His pressing was highly effective, and helped his team in their defensive efforts.

Rakib Hussain - 7.5

Rakib had a fantastic night on the wings, as he created chances throughout the game, and also assisted Bashundhara’s second goal.

Miguel Figueira - 8

Miguel was a wizard in the midfield for Bashundhara Kings, as he scored their first goal, and also created a number of great chances throughout the game.

Robinho - 9

Robinho had a game to remember, as he put up a series of jaw-dropping displays throughout the game. The Brazilian made an unreal assist to get his team back into the game, and also created a number of exceptional chances.

Carlos had a poor outing against Bashundhara, and seemed unanswerable to the threat casued by the Bangladeshi side. The Spaniard was often caught lacking in important situations, and even failed to judge a number of moves.

Sahil Panwar - 6

The left-back had an underwhelming outing, as he couldn’t put up a satisfying performance, and was constantly exploited by Rakib and Miguel on the wings. He was subbed off at the onset of the second half.

Lenny Rodrigues - 6.5

Lenny could do little about Bashundhara’s quality in the midfield and was forced to play second fiddle in the middle of the ground. He was also subbed off at around the hour-mark.
