Chennaiyin FC ends three-game losing streak with a gritty victory

The ISL action returned to the City of Nizams where Hyderabad FC hosted Chennaiyin FC with a hope to bring an end to their winless run. Both sides came into the game after three defeats in a row in their opening three games.

The disappointment continues for the Nizams as Chennaiyin FC hands them a 0-1 defeat at home. It’s now four losses in a row for Hyderabad FC. On that note, let us take a look at how the players performed.

Hyderabad FC Ratings (Yash Pratap Singh)

Gurmeet Singh (GK) - 6.5

The keeper did not have a great day at the office. He wasn’t tested much and conceded a goal as well. But, he pulled off an amazing save during the dying stages of the game.

Nikhil Poojary - 7.5

Nikhil was one of the best players for Hyderabad FC. He not only defended well at the back but also made bombing runs forward. He was good with his ball control and played key passes upfront.

Oswaldo Alanis - 7.0

The center-back was decent at the back and formed a good partnership with Sana Singh. He won all his ground duels and the majority of his aerial duels. Oswaldo was also good with his ball distribution.

Chinglensana Singh - 7.0

The defender was pretty good. He made a few important clearances and blocks. Sana also won the majority of his aerial duels and maintained a decent passing accuracy throughout the game.

Vignesh Dakshinamurthy - 7.0

Vignesh made an important clearance for his side. He made overlapping runs and also put n crosses in the opposition box. He also maintained a decent passing accuracy while winning the majority of his duels.

Sahil Tavora - 7.0

Sahil also looked solid in the middle of the park. He controlled the tempo of the game. He also completed 85% of his passes and won the ball in crucial positions a lot of times. Tavora also made a few defensive contributions defensively.

Joao Victor - 7.5

The Skipper led from the front and was his side’s best player in the game. Joao completed 41 out of his attempted 48 passes, including a key pass with an accuracy of 85%. Apart from that, he also had a shot on target alongside a few important defensive contributions.

Joseph Knowles - 6.5

The Aussie attacker had a decent game. He worked tirelessly on the right flank during his time on the pitch. He won the majority of his ground duels and also made an important tackle.

Petteri Pennanen - 7.5

Petteri had a good game in the middle of the park for his side. He was involved in the thick of things and executed a key pass as well. The Finn had a shot on target blocked and he also pulled off a successful dribble.

Mohammad Yasir - 6.5 

Yasir had a quiet game. He worked his socks off throughout the left flank, but couldn’t make much of an impact. He was not so good with his ball distribution considering his high standards.

Aaren D’Silva - 6.5

He had a great chance in the first half to score a goal, but couldn’t capitalize on it. Aaren won the ball in crucial positions and also executed a key pass while maintaining good passing accuracy.

Substitutes

Felipe Amorim - 7.0

The Brazilian midfielder came on to replace Joseph Knowles in the second half. He had a pretty good game off the bench as he made an impact with his speed and good ball distribution. 

Jonathan Moya - 6.0

The midfielder had a quiet game. He did not have many touches and as a result, he couldn’t make much of an impact. But, he did win two duels during his time on the pitch.

Makan Winkle Chote - 6.5

Chote came on to replace Aaren D’Silva in the second half. He completed the majority of his passes and also won a duel. Chote completed one out of two attempted dribbles.

Abdul Rabeeh - NA

He came on very late in the game and couldn’t make much of an impact.

Debjit Majumder - 7

Made some crucial saves that helped his team’s lead intact. Squandered a punch in the first half, but was otherwise sharp.

Bikash Yumnam - 6.5

Had a great game defensively, and made two clearances, as well as a couple of tackles and interceptions. The right-back also blocked two shots.

Ryan Edwards - 7

Was firm for the entire game, and made six important clearances. His aerial presence was also crucial in Chennaiyin’s victory.

Lazar Cirkovic - 7

Did well in the backline as he made five clearances, and also played a number of long balls.

Aakash Sangwan - 6

Didn’t have a great outing as he was constantly being bullied by Knowles on the left flank. His attacking contributions were also not very satisfactory.

Jiteshwor Singh - 7.5

Put in a tireless shift in the midfield, and worked hard in either set of play. Made two interceptions and two tackles as well.

Rafael Crivellaro - 8

Looked ever so lively in the midfield, and was giving Hyderabad all sorts of problems. Rafa played a huge role in Chennaiyin’s goal and also made a number of great chances.

Ayush Adhikari - 6.5

Decently obliged to his midfield duties, and facilitated Chennaiyin’s attacking play. Ayush however lacked quality in his defensive duties and was easily passed upon.

Ankit Mukherjee - 7.5

Played a high-quality ball in the box for Chennaiyin’s early goal, and carried the momentum throughout the game. Looked dangerous every time he was on the ball and was also impressive with his pressing.

Connor Shields - 8.5

Scored the only goal of the game, and was influential in Chennaiyin’s win today. The Scottish was full of energy and gave his 100% on both ends of the field.

Rahim Ali - 6

Had another frustrating game, as he was able to make no real impact whatsoever. Rahim wasn’t able to register a single shot on target and wasn’t very involved in the game as well.

Substitutions

Cristian Battocchio - 6.5

Came on early on in the second half, and was impressive with some of his tackling.

Farukh Choudhary - 6.5

Farukh was decent after coming on and made some good chances.

Jordan Murray - 7.5

Was very lively in the front and made some really great opportunities for himself.
