Thangboi Singto believes Hyderabad FC deserved a point from their previous game.
Hyderabad FC will be under immense pressure before their next Indian Super League fixture where they face Mumbai City FC. The Islanders are licking their wounds after losing 6-0 in the AFC Champions League to Al-Hilal and will look to bounce back in style against the Nizams.
Hyderabad FC could become the victims of Mumbai City FC’s desire to get back to winning ways as both teams prepare to face at the Mumbai Football Arena on 28 October 2023. Thangboi Singto, head coach of the Nizams, spoke to the media ahead of the fixture and talked about moving forward and not dwelling too much on the three consecutive defeats.
Here are the excerpts from the conversation with the tactician:
Deserved to get a point
Thangboi Singto spoke about playing away once again and a lack of huge difference between the Nizams and the Islanders in terms of history and stats. Furthermore, he also talked about deserving at least a point from the defeat against Chennaiyin FC. “In the last game, I think we deserved to get at least one point. We had the chance to equalize but could not quite do so. We can see that Mumbai is a good team, but if you look at the history and the stats, I think it is even-stevens on sporting terms,” he said.
Providing an update on personnel issues, Singto said, “Hitesh (Sharma) has a niggle and is in the hospital at the moment.”
Need to look forward
The tactician clarified that Hyderabad FC needs to focus on winning and not mull over the past three defeats too much. “As much as possible, we’d like to forget about the last three matches and go forward. Against Mumbai, we have to consider that they are a good team but in spite of going down, we have come back strongly in morale,” he said.
A club in transition
Thangboi Singto pointed towards the club being in a transition period while talking about the recent run of poor results. “I think the management understands the situation well. They know that we are a club in transition and they have our best interests at heart. All the players and staff know that and we are here for Hyderabad,” he said in the context of feeling pressure after losing all of the opening three games in the ISL.
