Subroto Cup: Junior Boys (U-17) category to kick-off tomorrow

38 teams to participate in the category

The Junior Boys (U-17) Boys category, the showpiece event of the 62nd edition of the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament, will kick start tomorrow in New Delhi. The tournament is back in the national capital after the Sub-Junior Boys (U-14) category was conducted for the first time in Bengaluru.

38 teams will battle for the trophy of the most prestigious inter-school football tournament of the country. Teams from Bangladesh and Nepal will add international flavour to the tournament.

The group stage matches will be played at Ambedkar Stadium, Tejas Football Ground and Subroto Park Football Ground in New Delhi and G.D Goenka University Football Ground, Gurugram. All the knockout matches will be played at the Ambedkar Stadium, including the finals which is scheduled for 23rd of October. The teams are divided into eight groups, in which the winners of each group will qualify for the quarterfinals.

The group matches will continue till 18th of October and the qualified teams will play the quarterfinals on the 20th of October. The semi-finals are scheduled for the 21st of October.

Pilgrim Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, Nagaland are the defending champions of the Junior Boys category.
