Subroto Cup 2023: Chandigarh, Manipur, Mizoram & CBSE reach semifinals in U-17 boys category
The semi-final matches will be played tomorrow at the Ambedkar Stadium, in Delhi.
The quarterfinal round of the 62nd Subroto Cup 2023 came to an end with teams from Chandigarh, Manipur, Mizoram and Uttarakhand emerging as winners and cementing their place in the semifinal round.
Previously M.I.C English Medium H.S, Athanikal, Malappuram, Kerala, Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37 B, Chandigarh, T.G English Medium School, Manipur, Sanjeevan Vidhyaniketan, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, Govt. Haulawang High School, Haulawang, Lunglei, Mizoram, Mother International School, Zahir, Brambey, Ranchi, Jharkhand, Bampather Bengenabari H.S.S, Aideobari, Assam and Amenity Public School, Rudrapur, Uttarakhand won their respective bouts and made an entry to the quarter final round.
Subroto Cup 2023 Quarter Final – 1
In the first quarter final, M.I.C English Medium H.S, Athanikal, Malappuram, Kerala faced Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37 B, Chandigarh.
The match remained without goals until the 25th minute. Subsequently, in the 26th minute, Lalchenba of Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh scored the first goal of the match with a remarkable angled shot.
Despite the Kerala team's efforts to stage a comeback, this proved to be the only goal of the match, resulting in the victory of the Chandigarh team, thus securing their place in the semifinals.
Subroto Cup 2023 Quarter Final – 2
The second quarter final was played between T.G English Medium School, Manipur and Sanjeevan Vidhyaniketan, Kolhapur, Maharashtra.
In a commanding demonstration of expertise, the team from Manipur triumphed over the team from Maharashtra with a resounding 4-0 victory. The match commenced with an early goal by Birramjit within three minutes of play. He further contributed with a second goal in the 18th minute, securing a comfortable 2-0 lead for his team before the conclusion of the first half.
In the latter part of the game, Khambaton managed to find the back of the net in the 56th minute, further widening the gap in the score. As the match approached its conclusion, Birrramjit showcased his skill by scoring his third goal of the match in 70+3 minutes of play through a penalty, resulting in a final score of 4-0.
Subroto Cup 2023 Quarter Final – 3
The third quarter final was played between Govt. Haulawang High School, Haulawang, Lunglei, Mizoram and Mother International School, Zahir, Brambey, Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Both teams encountered a demanding start to the match. The first half was on the brink of concluding without any goals, however, a precise shot by Adreas in the 32nd minute provided the Mizoram team with a lead. In the second half, Mesak from the Mizoram team managed to score a goal through a penalty in the 42nd minute, further extending their advantage and securing their spot in the semifinals.
Subroto Cup 2023 Quarter Final – 4
The fourth and final quarter final match of the Subroto Cup 2023 was played between Amenity Public School, Rudrapur, Uttarakhand who are representing CBSE and Bampather Bengenabari H.S.S, Aideobari, Assam.
The match remained evenly balanced until the final moments of play, with both teams in search of their first goal. In a moment of brilliance, Boinao of CBSE scored the opening goal in the 66th minute, followed by another goal in the 70+4th minute and Arjun added a goal in the 70+8th minute. Ultimately, the team representing CBSE from Uttarakhand emerged victorious and earned the opportunity to face the team from Mizoram in the semi-final.
