Antonio Conte is the favourite to replace Jose Mourinho

According to reports, Jose Mourinho will be leaving AS Roma at the end of the 2023-24 season. His three-year contract expires at the end of the current season and there is less chance of contract extension at the Italian club.

After reaching two back-to-back European finals, Jose Mourinho's Roma made a poor start to the season. AS Roma are sitting 10th in the Serie A table. Mourinho was under pressure but the team delivered with back-to-back wins to take AS Roma up in the standings.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported that "there are no negotiations ongoing, there have never been. So they’ll part company at the end of the deal in June."

Jose Mourinho was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in the summer. However, he decided against joining the Saudi Pro League and is managing the Italian club.

Antonio Conte is the favourite to replace the Portuguese manager. The Italian manager has been without a job since Tottenham Hotspur sacked him last season.

Conte also rejected Saudi Arabian proposals and said, "I’ve rejected a huge proposal from Saudi. I decided to say no. He added, "I regretted leaving Juventus after just three years. I’d like to try an experience in Roma or Napoli one day, but I usually prefer to join at the end of the season."

Jose Mourinho started his Roma career in July 2021. With a 50% win rate, he has led the Italian club to the UEFA Conference League 2021-22 title. Last season his team were the runners-up in the UEFA Europa League.

The 60-year-old has managed clubs in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain. He could be heading to another nation after adding another European title to his overall tally.
