According to sources, despite Manchester United's terrible beginning to the season, Erik ten Hag still has the full support of the board.

On Sunday, Manchester United were humiliated once more by fierce rivals Manchester City, sending Ten Hag's team to their fifth loss in their first ten league games.

This is the first time Manchester United have lost five of their first ten games since 1986.

Despite United's disappointing performance in the 3-0 loss to City, Ten Hag continues to be backed by the club's executives, according to the Manchester Evening News, and his job is not in jeopardy.

In addition, United's chief executive Richard Arnold reportedly stated that the team "is making good progress" despite the fact that they are currently eight points outside of the top four and could be eliminated from the Champions League early.

Arnold is allegedly likely to resign from his job if Sir Jim Ratcliffe's £1.4 billion minority ownership offer is accepted. Arnold attended the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag, whose contract expires in2025, is likewise facing mounting criticism given United's dismal start to the season.

Fans inside the stadium booed him vehemently when he decided to substitute £72 million attacker Rasmus Hojlund in the 73rd minute of Sunday's match at Old Trafford. They also criticised his squad choice because he left Raphael Varane and Sergio Reguilon on the sidelines.

Ten Hag subsequently stated that, for tactical motives, he had chosen to start Jonny Evans alongside to Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof at left-back.

Despite dealing with injuries to a large number of first-team players, United has also lacked any clear style or personality on the pitch during this campaign.
