AC Milan express interest in Manchester United's Harry Maguire

Maguire has claimed he could consider a move if he doesn't get enough game time

According to sources, Harry Maguire of Manchester United is being pursued by a number of Italian clubs, including AC Milan.

Erik ten Hag has always viewed Maguire as being unnecessary, but the Red Devils are open to hearing proposals for him.

The center-back has appeared in just one Premier League game so far this season due to the team's injury problems with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez out. He was also relieved of his United captain during the summer.

Maguire was on the verge of leaving Old Trafford in the summer, but a transfer to West Ham fell through. The 30-year-old was then resolved to battle for his position at the club.

The England star previously stated, 'I am not going to sit here all my life and play once a month,' implying he was open to leaving in January, but his game time was not increasing.

The Irons' interest in Maguire has been rekindled by this revelation, but it soon became clear that they were not the only team interested in the youngster. According to talkSPORT, "AC Milan are among a host of Serie A clubs monitoring the situation."

According to rumours, Maguire may be drawn to a move to Italy because he might follow in the footsteps of Chris Smalling, a former United and England defender who has experienced a resurgence in form after joining Roma in 2019.

Three Lions athletes wanting to stake a claim have found success in Serie A at Roma and AC Milan, respectively, as have former Chelsea standouts Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori.

Maguire might still save his United career, after obviously, as the team's defence is now looking exceedingly vulnerable without him and he may yet turn out to be the solution to their issues.

The Red Devils will go to Sheffield United this Saturday night as they presently lie in 10th place in the table, eight points behind leaders Tottenham.

Maguire is anticipated to start for England against Italy on Tuesday night. A win would guarantee the Three Lions' qualifying for Euro 2024.
