Aurelien Tchouameni: Playing too many matches is leading to injuries

Aurelien Tchouameni has been called up by France for October matches

Aurelien Tchouameni, a midfielder for Real Madrid, has called for a more laid-back footballing time frame, claiming that players today play too many games simultaneously, which is a major source of injuries.

The 23-year-old discussed a number of topics, such as Kylian Mbappe, playing as a centre-back, and fixture congestion before France's away Euro qualifier match against the Netherlands. In every one of Real Madrid's 11 matches so far this season, the 23-year-old French playmaker has appeared for a total of 843 minutes in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

It's interesting to note that only one of those 11 outings was a replacement. The midfielder was questioned about the demanding football timeline, and he is undoubtedly unhappy with it.

“Obviously, we're playing too many matches. It's leading to injuries. At some point, the players should do or say something,” he said at a press conference.

“These days, it's rare to have one match a week. It's up to the authorities and the players to bang their fists on the table.

“We get the impression that it's not going to get any better with new competitions. Something has to be done. When it's too much, it becomes a problem,” he added.

Since Kylian Mbappe is a Real Madrid long-term target, it was only appropriate for the journalists to inquire about the prolonged objective of Los Blancos. When asked, the midfielder said,

Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger established an odd centre-back pairing during the clash against Osasuna prior to the international break, and when he was asked about it, he quipped that he hoped he didn't have to play position again.
