According to sources connected to the Moroccan Football Federation, Brahim Diaz has made the decision to play for Morocco. Subject to a few minor administrative requirements, the player from Real Madrid's shift in nationality is already close to being settled.

Brahim has played for Spain on an international stage at every level, such as the senior team, where he appeared in his debut against Lithuania with De la Fuente watching from the stands in the game where the players selected by Luis Enrique for the Euros were unable to play due to Sergio Busquets' positive Covid test. With Spain, Brahim won a U-17 championship.

The issue originates from the forward's extremely likely call-up for the African Cup of Nations, which means Real Madrid won't be able to depend on him in January, a month with a heavy schedule of games where team depth proves vital.

Dual-nationality athletes are permitted to change sides as long as they haven't competed for that nation a total of three times before reaching 21 years old, including World Cup qualifying games but excluding them.

A participant who is qualified to play for a number of federations due to his nationality may only represent that federation in an international game if, in addition to possessing that nationality, he satisfies no fewer than one of the following requirements:

being born on federation-controlled territory, having an actual parent or grandparent who was born there, or having resided there consistently for at least five years.

After their stellar showing in the most recent FIFA World Cup, when they were eliminated in the Semifinals, Morocco remains the overwhelming favourite to win the Africa Cup of Nations. With players like Ziyech and En-Nesyri, the offensive line was already quite talented before Brahim's commitment.
