In the 31 Premier League seasons, Old Trafford has been a fortress for the Red Devils

Since the inception of Premier League in 1992 a host of clubs have been on the wrong side of results at Old Trafford. Manchester United have never been relegated since they participated in the first season of Premier League which was the 1992-93 season. That means United could have hosted as many as 31 home games for an away side that contested in all of the 31 different seasons of the Premier League.

Only a handful of clubs have done the damage on several occasions at Old Trafford in PL. This list will give further insight into the clubs with the most Premier League away wins at Old Trafford.

5. Tottenham Hotspur - 4 wins

The current season sees Tottenham Hotspur occupying the top spot in the Premier League. Particularly after losing Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, Spurs are in unbelievable form. This season Tottenham won their home fixture against Manchester United played out at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by 2-0. They will face Manchester United at their home, Old Trafford, in January 2024.

Tottenham are one of the few clubs that have been playing PL football since its inception without even being relegated once. So far in the 31 Premier League seasons, United have hosted Spurs for a total of 31 games. In those 31 outings at Old Trafford, only 4 have been in the favour of Spurs. 3 ended in draws while United have had 24 triumphs.

4. Arsenal - 4 wins

Just like North London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs, Arsenal too have played in each of the 31 seasons of the Premier League since its inception. Arsenal's current season is going great as they are only behind Spurs in the league table. Spurs with 26 points after 10 games are being chased by the Gunners on 24 points.

Although Arsenal have also won only 4 times at Old Trafford, they have gathered more points than what North London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs accomplished. In the 31 meetings at home, the Red Devils were given fairly a hard time by Arsenal. United won 18 games without giving a point away. But the Gunners also have 9 draws and 4 wins to take away from Old Trafford tours.

3. Chelsea - 6 wins

Founded in 1905, Chelsea have come a long way in terms of growth and stature. However, they are having a few problems at the moment that see them positioned 11th in the 2023-24 Premier League table. Up to now in the PL, Manchester United have played as hosts against the Blues 31 times.

Before both clubs meet in early December at Old Trafford, Chelsea have tested themselves against United at Old Trafford in PL for 31 straight seasons. The records have their say that United have had 12 victories. The Blues dominated on 6 occasions to get away with a win and also shared the spoils with the Red Devils 13 times.

2. Liverpool - 7 wins

In the Premier League, Manchester United last met Liverpool at Old Trafford on matchday 3 of the 2022-23 season. The match ended 2-1 in favour of the hosts. It was a crucial encounter as an away win could have seen Liverpool set a special record for overcoming the Red Devils at their fortress in three back-to-back seasons. Previously Liverpool hit a brace of consecutive season wins at Old Trafford from 2000 to 2002.

Fans will have to wait until April 2024 to see The Reds take on The Red Devils at Old Trafford in the current PL season calendar. However so far, in 31 home games, United have a winning record of 17 games. While 7 games ended in draws. The away side, Liverpool have won in 7 different seasons at Old Trafford.

1. Manchester City - 9 wins

'The Noisy Neighbours' of Man United have had the most away wins at Old Trafford. A resounding 9 victories in Manchester derby have been in the PL and at the Red Devils' home. Manchester City also particularly set themselves apart from the rest clubs on the list as they have had the chance to play only 26 away games in a possible 31 PL seasons. City are the only side on this list that have not featured in each of the 31 seasons of the Premier League due to relegation stints.

Before the 2008 September takeover by Sheikh Mansour, City recorded just a solo win at Old Trafford in their 11 visits. After drastically changing fortunes overnight, Man City went further on to add 7 wins in 15 PL away games played thereafter. United are yet to host a PL game for the other sides on the list this season, but City side have a chance to give further blow later today.
