Gareth Southgate's men play a qualifier and a friendly match

England manager Gareth Southgate has announced the team for the upcoming October international break.

The Three Lions will play two matches during this break. The first will be a friendly match at home against Australia. This match is scheduled to take place at the Wembley Stadium.

England will then face Italy in a UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier match. Both teams are placed in Group C and this is their second meeting in the qualifier stage.

In the last meeting between these two teams, the Three Lions scored two goals in the first half and secured the match with a scoreline of 2-1. Harry Kane and Declan Rice were on the scoresheet for Southgate's men.

Southgate's men top the group with four wins and a draw in their first five games. England have been dominant in the attack and scored 16 goals. Their defence has remained tight and conceded only two.

The recent squad selection saw James Ward-Prowse losing his spot. He is in fine form with West Ham and was unlucky to be dropped. In-form striker Ollie Watkins earns a recall alongside Jarrod Bowen.
