"This article contains serious and sensitive material. Readers are encouraged to use caution."
Karim Benzema, a former forward for Real Madrid, has expressed his unwavering support for the people of Gaza in a statement about the ongoing dispute between Israel and Palestine.
Legendary Real Madrid player Karim Benzema has been accused of having ties to terrorism, which could have a negative impact on his career.
Gerald Darmanin, the interior minister for France, made the allegation that Benzema still had ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. This group is frequently referred to as a terrorist organisation.
Darmanin made the startling accusation clear in an interview with CNews (via Football Espana via Mundo Deportivo):
"Mr. Karim Benzema has notorious links, as we all know, with the Muslim Brotherhood."
The departed Real Madrid striker has not yet responded as of the time of this writing. Nevertheless, a response is anticipated considering the seriousness of the claims. It is unclear how this serious allegation made by a French government official would affect Karim Benzema's reputation both within and outside of the world of football.
The forward left the Santiago Bernabeu before this summer and moved on to the Saudi powerhouse Al-Ittihad. The former Galactico has established himself since moving by scoring three goals and providing two assists to lift his team to fourth position in the Saudi Pro League.
Benzema says that his decision to join Al-Ittihad was not influenced by money, despite the fact that his three-year contract with the team is reportedly worth an astounding £258 million.
Instead, he stated that this significant professional change was motivated by his Muslim beliefs (via Daily Mail).
