The English striker will resume playing when his ban is lifted in January

Ivan Toney, the striker for Brentford, is interested in joining Arsenal after his eight-month suspension for breaking the FA's betting regulations expires in January.

Ivan Toney, who played a key role in Brentford's impressive run in the Premier League so far, was given the suspension back in May having been determined responsible for 232 infractions. Toney has made 66 top-flight games for the Bees and, predictably, has been linked to major moves elsewhere after scoring 32 goals.

On The Diary Of A CEO show in August, he talked candidly about his desire to leave Brentford. He recently signed top agent Jonathan Barnett's CAA Stellar agency. Toney acknowledged that "everyone wants to play at the top of the tree."

"The manager knows that I want to play at the highest level possible and whenever that time comes, so be it. My time at Brentford has been probably the best of my career. The next club I go to will be the right club."

Thomas Frank has said that if a club were willing to meet their asking price, they would be open to selling him. "I think every club in the world are a selling club except five or six clubs," Frank said on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football last month.

"We are a selling club if the right price is there and I think it's the right time for the players to go. That's not my decision, that would be down to [director of football] Phil [Giles] or [chairman] Matthew [Benham] in the end.

But I think if players have developed well with us and been on the journey, and they've proven good enough to go to the top clubs, then I think it's the right thing if we get the right price.
